Corporate Volunteerism

Corporate volunteerism is a pillar of corporate social responsibility.  You can provide employees the opportunity to volunteer their time and talents as they give back to their community through the Meals on Wheels of Mercer County Corporate volunteerism program.  Corporations can meet the strategic goals of their corporate social responsibility programs and receive valuable brand exposure through their participation in one of Meals on Wheels of Mercer County’s Corporate Volunteerism Programs.

Meals on Wheels of Mercer County provides corporations several corporate volunteer opportunity options, providing flexibility to meet almost any schedule. Your employees can make a positive impact on older adults by:

  • volunteering to deliver meals
  • providing pro bono expertise
  • assisting MOWMC with on-site office projects, or providing support at one of the MOWMC signature events – March for Meals, and Paws for Our Cause Pet Walk.
  • Company/employee generated events such as bake sales or Facebook fundraisers

Our marquee corporate program is called Adopt-A-Route.

Adopt-A-Route Overview

Imagine running a restaurant where each weekday 300 customers order their lunch—all at the same time. Now, take it a step further, and imagine that you are short staffed nearly every single day.

This is the situation Meals on Wheels of Mercer County finds itself in each day. Our Meals on Wheels program serves approximately 300 homebound seniors each day throughout Mercer County. This would not be possible without the assistance of approximately 45 caring volunteers each and every day.  Our Meals on Wheels program is always in need of additional meal delivery volunteers.

To address this need, and knowing that corporations are always looking for opportunities to give back in their community, Meals on Wheels of Mercer County has created Adopt-A-Route

When you Adopt-A-Route, the route will be named for your corporation for the duration

of your participation in the program.

The adopted route will bear your company’s name and logo on the delivery car and the MOWMC literature.  Participation in this program immediately elevates your company’s visibility in the community.  It highlights your company as a philanthropic leader with a proactive approach to making a difference for important causes locally.

To Adopt-A-Route, simply identify employees who want to participate in delivering a weekly route. Working in pairs (a driver and a runner), realistically depending on the size of your company, employees may only deliver once a year no more than 2 hours at a time. Your company will be publicaly recognized as one of our community partners and employees can engage in a new form of volunteer leadership without having to take away evening or weekend time from their families. This program provides individuals an opportunity to give back—no matter how busy someone’s schedule may be. The company gains visibility, plus, it makes people feel good and helps cement relationships within a team.
